the Cast of characters
brigette lundy-paine
As Eleanor “El” Rivkin
Works as a private “information broker” on the streets of NYC. Essentially a black-market private eye, she specializes in digging up dirt on politicians, celebrities, and other influential members of the city’s elite, then selling it to the highest bidder. Sardonic, dry, gruff at the edges, she doesn’t take bullshit from anyone, even those she cares about. She’s not particular about men or women though relationships with either have never really worked out.
Haunted by the tragic death of her parents and a history of psychiatric problems, El makes a living on the edges of Manhattan, alone, with the singular exception of a disguised voice who helps her with cases, PRIZRAK.
However, when she is pulled into a new case, she may be forced to re-evaluate her long-held principles of distance from her clients. And then there are the actual ghosts that only she seems to be able to see and hear. Is she losing it? Maybe. But what’s new?
Erin Darke
As Talia Rivkin
El’s older sister. She posseses the same wit, cleverness, drive as El but has her eyes set a little higher... and to the east. The Upper East Side to be exact.
Their parents fell short of any type of notoriety but Talia won’t make the same mistake. Charming, charismatic, and compassionate (but perhaps not always to her ‘mischievous sister’), Talia is simlutaneously “at home” in her soon-to-be-husband’s wealthy, influential family, but also perpetually suffering and second guessing herself from the imposter syndrome that comes from a powerless surname.
Although Talia starts as an opposing force to El, constantly chiding her into a more “respectable” job, she evolves into a complex character who must balance her love for her fiance, the expectations and demands of this new world, and her only tether back to her childhood - El.
Moisés Arias
as Prizrak
El’s “colleague” and perhaps only friend, an agoraphobic, sardonic, paranoid computer whiz who helps El with her contracts from the safety of their apartment - and from behind a voice disguiser.
Whether it’s hacking records, trawling through databases, navigating 1999’s BBS boards, or chasing down digital leads - Prizrak is almost always available at the other end of the phone to trade good-natured barbs with El and help her out of a bind.
